Alternate name is Knysna Lourie. Scientifically known as Turaco corythaix. It features a short crest with a white margin, dark blue-green wings and a blue wash tail. It is about 46cm and weighs 310g. Sexes look alike. It feeds on fruits and invertebrates.
Its nest is a flimsy platform of twigs. This bird favours cool evergreen and Afromontane forests, but can also be found in riverine forests. It can only be seen on the eastern coast of South Africa.
